Classic Car History
Hey guys im new to the site and like it so far. I was woundering if i could pick your brains though, i was standing in the garage tonight with my girlfriends father working on a couple of our toys (360ci and 410ci sprint cars) and we got to talkin about his 69 stingray. I asked what he knew about the car before he redid it, and he said nothing. So i got the VIN and tried to search it but seeings how ive never done it before i keep having a problem with the fact that they changed the format of the VIN's in 1980 therefore the 13 character VIN that i have does not work with sites like Carfax since they only run 17 character VINs. If there is anyone out there that could help me find some info. on his car him and I would appriciate it greatly. Thanks for any help.

Hi PhantomStinger1969 and welcome to the forum, here's a site that blueshark posted, http://www.vettefacts.com/c3/1969.aspx PG.
Hey thanks for the site guys... a lot of neat specs. i was actually trying to figure out the history on this specific car: who had it before, has it been wrecked and how bad, etc. when he bought the car in 96' it was a salvage title, he had to straighten the frame, this, that, and the other. so we can guess it was wrecked, but we know nothing about this car's past. with the VIN format changing in 1980 switching from 13 to 17 characters, none of these car history reports will go back to a VIN from that year. So if anyone knows how to figure this out that would be great. But regaurdless the site was excelent for spec. info. I enjoyed it. thanks again guys

If I understand you right, you'll need to do a title/reg. search. There is a site some where that you can use, I'll see if I can find it again. But in the mean time you can start at your local DMV and see what they can/will do for you. IS: prvious owners/states etc.
Welcome to the site and we really do love pictures. Don't forget the wave. Cheers
