Very nice ride. I own an '07 triple black vert so we have the exact same taste in cars. I was just wondering what it costs to import the ultimate American sports car and what your German friends think aboutit. Are you considered atraitor. Congrats and welcome to the site.

Wish u guys happy Easter holidays over there
( we have Good Friday and next Monday off work )

Yes, the Vette is an eye catcher, head turner, womanizer par excellence, no question.
The sound with the BB exhaust is incredible, NASCAR in Europe - YES.
And my Vert is here the first inbetween area of 25 miles to the next I know.
But one of the first LS3 at all as I know by German forums.

It does great on our Autobahn, causes traffic jam when driving slowly the first
miles coming from dealer, becauseother car drivers stay beside or behind, staring on it and kids takes their cameras ready. True !

So far I have only 300 mls on the odo, doing slowly the first thousand miles.
Plus, we got snow now and the garage stays closed :-(

BTW: Howmany milesdo I have exactly to drive it smooth before I can beat it?

Before ( and still own it ) I drove a ´01 BMW 330Ci Convertible with 231 HP -
it is a difference in performance and feeling to the Vette like between day and night !
Double cubic, double power..

Before the C6 came out and especially now the 2008 model with the LS 3 and all the other
new add ups, the former C4 and C5 have a very badreputation here in Germany, not respected as sports cars.
But this changes now in 2008 definitely in the minds of interested buyers and the
European/ German motor press.

I myself never considered to buy another sportscar then a Corvette, especially
no flat beetle from Stuttgart ( Porsche, arrgh [sm=boosign.gif]).

American made V8 was a MUST at all times.
[sm=americanasmiley.gif]
The Vette and in general US muscle cars are my dream since I was child.
Lasted long to make it true..

I love my Vette very very much and yes, its very rare on our roads.
Last year they sold around 300 pc. C6- in whole Germany, if I am right.

In USA it is a daily driver sportscar at bargain price.
But here...

We can buy the Vette here by two ways .
Official dealer, purchase fromGM ( Opel ) / Cadillac / Corvette dealer.
The prices starts from - hold on - $ 105,000 for the coupe
to some $ 120,000 for the full stuffed vert. Some 8 - 10 % discount possible.

Z06 goes here for $ 135,000 and ZR-1 in 2009 forat least$ 165,000

Second and much cheaperway is direct self import from US.
Then have to payed your known local prices (when buying a C6 from US dealer
or private owner)plus sea freight plus 10 %customs feehere plus 19 % VAT here.
Plus some bucks for paperwork, new lights etc..

If someone of you is in the business with car sales we can talk about dealing
in importing US cars to Germany, maybe there is something possible.
My job is worldwide sales, import and exports of road construction equiment,
not too different .. ;-)

If you followed until here without getting bored I congratute and thank you !

Take care, like to be here with you

Hi again Judge Z, I've heard that on parts of the autobahn there is no speed limit.
Does it just say "No Speed Limit" or is there a special sign to let you know? PG.

Hi pg !

Most parts of German autobahn are restricted in speed, mostly
up to 100 km/h ( 62 mph ) or 130 km/h ( 80 mph ).
So in general, similar to your Interstates.

But compared to your routes, we have huge more traffic to handle here in small
Germany, because our country is located central in Europe and so lots of foreign trucks, buses
and cars pass by from North to South and reverse, West to East and reverse..

As our government rans permanently out of money, mayor parts of our roads
are in weak condition.
Excepted East Germany (former GDR ), where all main roads are brand new.

So we have speed limits because of a) huge traffic and b) weak road surfaces.

Where the speed is restricted you see round signs with red circle and the speed limit
numbered black in the middle, see below.

Last 4 - 6 years thespeed enforcementhas been increased by the cops very hard,
because poor government need lots of money ( to waste it at other places ).

But when the autobahn is free and there is no limit announced then there is NO limit ..

I like driving in your country much more, because way less hectic and driving
people around are more friendly.
In Germany its a daily race ..

Thanks for the quick reply, I was just curious. 60 to 80 MPH is fast enough to blow the carbon out of our Vettes.
In my little town there is a speed trap, limit 20 MPH. On my way to the store yesterday the sheriff (who knows me and everyone else in town)had someone pulled over, on my way back he had someone else, as I passed him I said " Are you making your quota today?" He smiled and said "Two more and my wife gets a toaster oven." PG.

our main enemys are the local communities, nearly each town has now its own
mobile speed trap, as cash-flow-cow ..

I got speed trapped last Tuesday in a pedestrian-slow-down-traffic-zone -
speedlimit 7 kmh ( 4.4 mph ) ! ! !
I had 20 kmh when flash appeared ****
First photo as proud vette owner, will see what bad mail will arrive..
If it runs very bad the license is gone for 4 weeks :-((

from which state / county you are ?
I have been to VA, WV, CA, OR, WA, AK so far.
