Hi folks, hope everyone is having a GREAT Memorial Day weekend! My name is Keith and just two weeks ago I bought a black on black 1993 Corvette Coupe with the LT1 engine, with automatic transmission, that has 62k miles on it. This is my first vette ever, so please bear with me as I have a MILLION questions lol. I've already been watching tons of vid's on youtube and learned a lot, but it also created questions that I haven't gotten answers too, yet. I live in the midlands area of SC and so it can get VERY hot here, which brings up the issue of the complex cooling system in these cars that is designed to run about 220 - 230F. What's funny is the day I bought it and drove it home about 60 miles, it was a warm 85 deg. During the trip home, a couple times at long stop lights the temp got very close to the upper end of the temp gauge, so I was freaking out!! I was thinking I had bought a lemon was going to have to get it towed home lol. Anyway, I'm retired and so have a good bit of time to work on it. Thanks for reading my intro and hope to have some good discussions with you folks! Driver side view of 1993 coupe Passenger side view of 1993 coupe The 5.7L LT1 beast!
Welcome to the forums. It looks like someones baby, it is black I like that paint. YouTube is helpful sometimes but it doesn't always have the answers your looking for. If your radiator fan is checking on around 220 and you want it lower you can change the thermatic switch on the engine to a lower temperature if you want. If the A/C is on the fan should be running no matter what the engine temp is
