Default new member, new car

I was actually in the market for a new GTO, then I was offered a red 2002 C5 'vert for a very good price. only 16k miles on the car, and it is absolutely immaculate, looks like its sitting on the showroom floor. six speed. it'll be in my garage in a couple days once I deal with the paperwork (i just was offered it yesterday). The car was just too good of a deal to pass up -- in a year I'll probably be able to sell it for what I'm paying for it. In a year a new GTO would have depreciated $10k.

I have never in my life owned a convertible, but a couple factors make me think it'll be fun. 1. i live in florida by the beach 2. I daily drove a SL500 for a week and cruised around with the top down everywhere 3. the verts don't weigh any more than the coupes, so they don't really give up any performance other than top-speed, and i'm not crazy enough to want to go 170mph anyway.

This is actually not my first vette, I had a '94 six-speed back in the day.

let's see, as far as a personal introduction, I'm 27, I graduate law school in 5 weeks, and umm, I can't think of much else I could say that's exciting. oh, if anybody knows me from ls2.com, yeah, it's me guys

Welcome to the site, sound like you just got yourself a nice graduation present. Is the car stock or did the previous owner do any mods to it?

i hate when that happens.... you're just sitting there minding your own business and trying to buy a car when all of a sudden an essentially perfect corvette comes along at a great price...

it's enough to drive a guy to the drink. [sm=icon_cheers.gif]

it's stock. from my research, it seems the best first mod will be an intake system. around 10rwhp for $350 or so. not bad.

I had an '00 TA, M6. stock it ran 13.5 @ 106. with full exhaust and an airbox i ran 13.11 @ 110 (on street radials). what's a proprly driven C5 run? i know the 01+ cars are stronger than the 97-00 cars.
