Default Thinking about purchasing my 1st Corvette

Hello everyone, I am new to the forum and Corvettes, in fact, I'm new to social media in general so I apologize for the ignorance in advance. I'm looking for some feedback from owners and enthusiasts to help push me over the edge!

I have been considering a birthday present for myself as I will be turning 47 this Friday. The wife has already approved the purchase but I'm still on the fence.

I have a refundable reservation on a 2017 C7 Grand Sport Torch Red / Kalahari with 6k miles. Should I pull the trigger?

Red was not my 1st choice since I am typically conservative. I started my search looking for silver or gray but this red is very eye catching, especially with satin black wheels, visible carbon fiber roof and carbon fiber dash....even love the microfiber inserts in the seats.

My everyday driver is an Acura MDX sport Hybrid and I have owned many TLX and TL models prior. I haven't owned a "sports car" since my 1986 Mazda RX7 in the early 90's so this is a big step outside my comfort zone.

I have loved the C7 since it came out and always turn my head and stare when I see one. Will it be worth the investment? Is it worth giving up the Acura's garage parking spot for a shiny red Corvette?

I live in NJ so this would only be a weekend toy on nice days. I'm not a track kind of guy and although I love cars and my garage is immaculate, I'm not handy or mechanically inclined so this is strictly for pleasure.

Please share any feedback that may help persuade me since I continually talk myself out of the red and quite frankly, out of the car all together. It's not practical, I'll never drive it, it's too fast, it's too red...

Do you have any regrets?
would you buy another one?
Is red too bold for a conservative guy like myself?
what do you do for fun in your Vette?

Thanks for reading!

Welcome to the forum! Definitely go red! Loud isn't a bad thing either. Fast, fun, pretty. What more could you want in a car? Anything you do in it will become fun. Just think when your wife runs out of whatever while cooking dinner you get to run to the store in THIS. Now you get be the cool guy at cars & coffee. Go forth and buy it!

Welcome to the forum. I think there's a book titled "All Corvettes Are Red".
