Yours is a pretty tough question since all 275's are not created equal, different brands will have different dimensions. The only way to be absolutely sure would be to mount one up and bolt it on the car. My '79 had 265-60's on it and they rubbed on the front when the wheels were turned sharp, but they cleared on the rear.
Couple things you could do,first purchase the adjustable links that go between the frame and the rear spring which will allow you to adjust the height on the rear. You could also go to a different profile perhaps -70's on the rear and -60's on the front, that will give you different diameters with the same width and more diameter difference with the different widths as you are now thinking.
I'm pretty sure the 275's will rub on the trailing arms on the rear, several companies make offset trailing arms to allow for wider tires, but they would cost more than 3 pairs of tires. If you were really close, you might could put a spacer behind the wheel if that didn't make it rub on the outside. That would create a change in geometry which would very likely have a negative effect on the camber.
Everything affects everything! Sometimes a shortcut results in needing major expensive parts to correct the side effects!
Since different tire diameters will cause a different look where the tire fits in the opening, you will probably end up wanting the adjustable links anyway and they are probably the least expensive way to change the attitude or "stance" of your '77.
Is there something better than VHS?
There are computer software programs (Summit has it as do some tire stores) that let you put different wheels, tires and colors on your vette, but I've never seen one the will let you put different tires on front and rear. If you try to put on a tire that THEY think won't fit, they won't let you do it.
Tire Rack.com has lots of options that might help.
Good Luck!

Greg,
They're a long bolt that has rubbers and washers on them, they leave from near the ends of the spring and extend vertically to a bracket on the frame. These things hold the whole weight of the rear of the car so obviously if you change their length you raise and lower the rear of the car.
Maybe there are more "older" Christians because when you realize you're not going to live forever, you start thinking about what happens next? The "kids" never think about not living forever.
