Did you know......
There are some little known facts about the universe we live in.
I thought it might be interesting if we share some with each other. :) To start this off........ Did you know........, according to the laws of aerodynamics, it's impossible for a Bumble Bee to fly? :D |
RE: Did you know......
God, yeh, that one is unreal!!
Uh, lessee if I got something, this is a cool thread. Casual dating can be dangerous. A study of spiders shows female wolf spiders will eat strange-looking males that try to mate with them, but spare and even hook up with familiar-looking males. The findings provide not just an interesting insight into spider behavior, but may help explain actions by "higher" animals, said arachnologist Eileen Hebets of Cornell University in New York. "The female is using earlier experience that is going to affect her mate choice later," Hebets said in a telephone interview. "It is reasonable to expect that is a common thing in other animals." Hebets worked with Schizocosa uetzi spiders, commonly known as wolf spiders. The female, which is slightly larger, can choose a) to mate, b) to run away or c) to eat her suitor. Apparently, running away is not a very frequently used option..... |

Quote: When glass breaks, the cracks move faster than 3,000 miles per hour. To photograph the event, a camera must shoot at a millionth of a second! Whoa!!! Amazing!!! Did you know......... Subject: Butter vs margarine--interesting Butter Pass the butter ~ ~ ~ ~ This is interesting. Margarine was originally manufactured to fatten turkeys. When it killed the turkeys, thepeople who had put all the money into the research wanted a payback so they put their heads together to figure out what to do with this product to get their money back. It was a white substance with no food appeal so they added the yellow coloring and sold it to people to use in place of butter. How do you like it? They have come out with some clever new flavorings DO YOU KNOW... The difference between margarine and butter? Read on to the end...gets very interesting! Both have t he same amount of calories. Butter is slightly higher in saturated fats at 8 grams compared to 5 grams. Eating margarine can increase heart disease in women by 53%over eating the same amount of Butter, according to a recent Harvard Medical Study. Eating butter increases the absorption of many other nutrients in other foods Butter has many nutritional benefits where margarine has a few only because they are added! Butter tastes much better than margarine and it can enhance the flavors of other foods. Butter has been around for centuries where margarine has been around for less than 100 years. And now, for Margarine.. Very high in Trans fatty acids. Triple risk of coronary heart disease. Increases total cholesterol and LDL (this is the bad cholesterol) and lowers HDL cholesterol, (the good cholesterol) Increases the risk of cancers up to five fold. Lowers quality of breast milk. Decreases immune response. Decreases insulin response. And here's the most disturbing fact.... HERE IS THE PART THAT IS VERY INTERESTING! Margarine is but ONE MOLECULE away from being PLASTIC.. This fact alone was enough to have me avoiding margarine for life and anything else that is hydrogenated (this means hydrogen is added, changing the molecular structure of the substance). You can try this yourself: Purchase a tub of marg arine and leave it in your garage or shaded area. Within a couple of days you will note a couple of things: * no flies, not even those pesky Fruit flies will go near it (that should tell you something) * it does not rot or smell differently because it has no nutritional value; nothing will grow on it Even those teeny weeny microorganisms will not a find a home to grow. Why? Because it is nearly plastic. Would you melt your Tupperware and spread that on your toast? |
RE: Did you know......
I hate margarine. Can't stand the stuff. That was really interesting, Dave! I had no clue at all. I'll add something to this thread tomorrow, when I have a little more time here....

Did you know...........
that the earth rotates from West to East, and it is this rotation that NASA uses to help propel rockets into space? Tie a ball onto a string, swing it around your head, then cut the string. Ziiiiing....watch it fly away. The string beinggravity, and the scissors to cut the string arethe rocket engines. The next time there is a televised launch, watch the rocket as it rises. You can see that it does not go straight up. NASA launches at an angle to propel therocket out over the Atlantic Ocean, East, thereby taking advantage of the propultion created by the earth's rotation, to "fling" the rocket into space. |
