Venus goes around the sun (a year) faster than it turns on it's own axis (a day).
student: "Why do I have to know algebra?"
teacher: "So you know how old your dog isin Venus years".
Not heard on Venus: "Honey, I'll do it tomorrow".
Sayingon Venus: Carpe annum (seize the year).
and on, and on...

One winter mornin' a couple of years ago, I drove past a field of cows. They were eatin', and you could see their steamy breath clouds in the early sunshine in the cold air.
I noticed one had a huge steam cloud justbreathed out. Except the cloud was at the wrong end!!![:'(][:-]

In the 1500 most floors were dirt. Only the wealthy had something other than dirt. Hence
the saying, Dirt poor. The wealthy had slate floors that would get
slippery in the winter when wet, so they spread thresh (straw) on floor
to help keep their footing. As the winter wore on, they added more
thresh until, when you opened the door, it would all start slippi ng
outside. A piece of wood was placed in the entranceway. Hence the saying
a thresh hold.
