RATS!!! Another freak blizzard here today....

I've lived in this neck of the woods for 27 years now, and there's been years where we've gone over 5 years without seeing a flake of snow, let alone blizzards....

Today, our city woke up to the 2nd blizzard of the year. It's absolutely treacherous out there today, needless to say the beloved Corvette is safe and sound in the garage (a whole 'nother story of frustration for you friend TopSpeed) but the entire city is in shambles here. We have almost NO snow removal equipment due to the fact we hardly ever get any... the one plow that was working this morning got stuck. :D

Anyways, it's really annoying. Really. Annoying.

If I disappear again for a few days, that means I'm snowed in. Hopefully things will get a little better as the day progresses and it won't come to that.....

Hey Bro,
Those are the storms that we usually get, give 'em back![:@]
We're goin' to be on restricted watering this year, if y'all don't start sendin' them my way![&o]

Dude, if there was ANY way those turkies down at Fed-Ex would take the stuff, I'd send it... postage paid. :D

We have been pretty luck here in Maryland, not only have we not had the slightest bit of snow. We haven't even had an extremely cold day (not to rub it in or anything;))

I can appreciate how annoying it is, believe me. I hate lizzards. That is why I moved to the Carolina's 15 years ago. I really dislike snow, in any form.

We get, on average, one small snow a year here in central Carolina -- usually about 2 inches but one time 11. Regardless, it shuts down the city until it melts (usually about a day), and it provides just enough reminder tome again of why I moved here.

Thanks, Pay; you've managed to warm my heart this morning with your kind pointing and laughing at us. :D:D:D:D

You have just described NORMAL weather for us up here, to a 'T'. I, too, loathe snow. In the 27 years I've been here, it's never done anything remotely CLOSE to this before. We don't really have snow removal equipment here on purpose; it would typically be an utter waste of taxpayers money, but the last 2 years it's starting to look like we really oughta get some.

Victoria, here where I live, is in a strange little spot for Canada. Yes, indeed, the entire rest of Canada is quite used to large snowfalls and all that, for sure, but we are at the very Western edge of the country and are typically exposed to the weather patterns that come from Hawaii, thus typically resulting in 10+*C days, even in January. This year, giant artic weather patterns are making their way further south, and we are getting the outside edges of these storms, thus the mayhem.

I talked recently to an old fella who lives here; he was born and raised here in Victoria. In over 80 years, he's never seen anything like this..... it's really ticking a lot of us off. :D

We got 2 storms in 2 weeks that were 37 inches and 22 inches. We just got another one that was 7 inches and just last night we got about 1/2 an inch.I have never seen anything like this since I've lived here. (thats about 17 years) My trusty rear wheel drive 240sx has been getting me around pretty good though.:)

I would give anything to have that much snow. I live in upstate South Carolina and I would love to have that much snow. You can't imagine how much I love playing in the snow with the 4WD.

I suppose it would be rubbing it it to mention that there is blue sky, 64 degrees F and very dry streets down here right now, but I will. I just got back from taking hte 'vette out for its weekly Sunday morning exercise hour.

Winters didn't used to be this warm and fine here -- maybe there is something to this global warming thing. If so, I seem to be among the lucky ones who benefit.

We got hit with 2* F below on Friday night, Sat. morning. Froze up the house, solid.[:@]Our record for this time of year is 10*F below.
Put a torpedo heater under the house and got it thawed out Sat. Not so unusual, just not much snow yet.

I TOTALLY feel your pain, there, my friend. You guys got hit hard, that's for sure. I hope everyone is OK there? The wierd part for us is, we just don't get it like this.... I have seen 5 years go by up here without a flake. Now, it's one after the other. Driving everyone up here in the city nuts, because there are NO plans for dealing with this stuff. The entire city goes into lock-down mode. Uber large pain in the posterior.

Glad to hear that you guys are seeing IMPROVEMENTS from typical weather patterns... some areas are better than others, that's for sure. I have finally talked Mrs. TopSpeed into letting us get an AWD this year at some time, just to be less prone to being stuck when stuff like this happens. The hunt for an Audi A6 AWD begins here in the next few weeks.....

I keep trying to box the stuff up to send to you, but the darned FedEx guy keeps saying "We don't deliver water!!" What a weasel, eh?

We got hit AGAIN last night. Now, it's official. The weather is a mess. Never once in the history of this city, as far as I know, have there been 3 snow storms in one year.

I'm in Oklahoma City. We got an ice storm 2 weeks agothat is just starting to melt. A few deaths on I-44 and I-35.

And to think this is supposed to be the hottest summer across the US in history.

Maybe there is something to that global warming stuff.

That sounds pretty brutal, for sure, but me, I like hot vs. cold any day of the week. Man, if I lived in yer neck of the woods, I'd never put the roof up! :D

We're fine. Was glad we didn't lose power. A lot of people did, so we got lucky. My kids school collapsed because of the weight of the ice (was on all the news channels, the Today Show, etc). They have no gym, cafeteria, and lost 4 classrooms. Thank God it happened on a Saturday when no one was in there.

I have family in the Poteau area (OK), (Leflore county) this is there first real winter there, they moved over from southern Ca., so they are getting a rude awakening. They have escaped some of the major storms but still got hit pretty hard.
They also experienced their first tornado season that just passed, and when we went to visit they were glued to the Tv watching the weather channel almost 20 hours a day, :D. In a way it was funny. They never really had a Tornado in the area, but they have what they call "straight" winds or something like that, and it was enough to scare the heck out of them a few times...

we had straight line winds come through and ripped up a bunch of stuff for about 5 miles including the high school. tore half the roof off and a couple walls. Like Kobe's case luckily enough it was on a Sunday so no one was there. lots of damage though. one of my in-laws neighbors house was waisted and he spent two days in the hospital. but he was fine, just banged up

Tornado season: April - June. I've been in OKC for 2 1/2 years and haven't experienced one yet. I'd love for one to rip thru my house when I'm on vacation though. The city of Moore experienced a really bad one in 99 and everyone built huge homes afterwards. FEMA and insurance can be a wonderful combo (as long as no one is injured). :D

I been in downpours, blizzards, and inside a live volcano, but the thought of gettin' caught in a tornado orhurricane scares the schmidt outa me. [&:]
I hate the wind, unless I'm makin' it with the "Starship"! ;)

we had 9 come through last year in two days. what a mess. two people died. three weeks before we had 4 come through in some of the same routs and one guy down the road in a double wide modular home had just had his house replaced from them. got hit twice. after it was replaced the second time he put up a for sale sign and moved back to Indiana and left it with the real estate company.

Tornadoes scare me the most. They are so unpredictable, can hit anytime, anywhere, just plain scary if you ask me.
I'll take a earthquake anytime over those...

We had about 1/4 inch of snow here in central Carolinas about a week ago -- stayed on the ground only a few hours. Despite that they delayed school openings for two hours and the local media had a field day warning about "the winter storm" with the TV weathermen basking in their moment of glory -- for just a few minutes someone might care about what they had to say.

But it has since warmed up although it has been cold (high 30s) and drizzly for about a week, with high winds sometimes, although today it is supposed to be in the mid 30s but sunny and dry. My vette hasn't been out in a week -- maybe this weekend if it stays as forecast today.

Ohhhhhh Lee... I'm feelin' for ya here, bro. My wife hates it when the weather gets to a point that the Vette can't get out... her hubby starts exhibiting signs of "grumpyitis"..... :) The only cure is a cruise, my friend; I hope you can get to it soon!
