What cars do you think could beat a Vette on a road course?

 

This poll makes no sense: it let's me pick only one car.

The 'vette wins on performance for price but nothing else. I would choose any of the cars listed above over a standard C6, or any stock corvette prior to the C6ZO6, on just about any road course in the world. All except maybe the Lotus (depends on which model Elise) would also win or tie in the quarter, probably even with an '08 model, and all but the Lotus have an equal or superior top speed.

 

.....and let's not forget the "driver" factor. I can out drive a lot of people, but then again, I have been out driven too. [&:]
Put me in any of those cars, and I'd hav'ta say, they are all equally fast, and handle fairly equally well.
So, I guess my answer is, all and none of the above.

 

Road course... All you have to do is follow the American LeMans Series. Corvette has been the only entry in GT2 since the first race of the year (when the Aston Martins dropped out), but they all race on the same course at the same time. The 911's rock every year, but the Ferrari's have been doing pretty darn good. The Lotus is a wonder-car as far as handling, but lacks alot in HP/TQ, even given the light weight. Out of the box? Porsche and Ferrari. In the hands of a race team on a really twisty track (Laguna Seca)? Give me the Lotus with an Acura power plant. Vipers handle like pigs on tough turns. Lambo's like to go mostly straight.

I would not read too much into the LeMans series results. Remember those are all race cars in the LeMans series - very different animals (the 'vette is just about all different underneath: I know because I have some of the C5R elements in my car and it took gobs of modifications to fit). Only the Porsche and Ferrari are similar to their production models and they are not that stock.

 

iveput more miles on my bicycle this year then ive put on the vette(about 600). seems like i work on her more then i drive it. my buddies call it the garage queen.

 

I know what you mean. Mine often sits for three weeks between times I get to drive it.

Still, it's worth having it there.
