I just bought a car with a 59 Corvette 283 engine. The casting # is correct for 59 Corvette (the second one listed in the Corvette black book), and the heads have the correct casting mark on the front. I have not checked the casting dates yet. This engine was rebuilt "to Duntov specs", bored .040" over, etc. and it has never been fired. It is in a 59 Chevy Sedan Delivery, and it has an Offy tri power on it with rebuilt GM carbs on it. Oh yeah, looks like aftermarket distributor I think, and has aftermarket headers.

The guy I bought the car from is extremely knowledgeable about old Chevys and he has been building and racing them for decades. He is also a certified auto shop instructor.

Trying to find out value of the engine before I continue building this car. I may consider selling it to someone restoring a Corvette so I can buy a ZZ4 or something.
