The elegant beast took me for a 191 mile drive today. I have owned the car 76 days now. She is intoxicating to simply sit in, not to mention an addictive driving experience. I would have never imagined driving under the speed limit in town could be such a pleasure. I am head over heels in love with this car. I had no idea i could ever feel this way about a car, but then this is not just any car. The day was 61 degrees, sunny and no wind. There was a 12 mile section of pavement that was as smooth as a granite countertop. I was literally the only motorist on the road. I will leave the rest to your imagination.

one of the weaknesses of that year was the Opti-Spark ignition system. Keep the front of the engine dry and you shouldn't have issues. Keep an eye on the water pump for leaks and avoid washing the front of the engine with a pressure washer. Some car washes have chassis sprayers that spray the bottom of the car can cause issues at times. Other than that Happy motoring. I find it amazing this car has had so many owners. There must be a story there.

Thanks for your suggestions. i'm definitely on the front end of my C4 learning curve, so thank you again. i'll only ever use a bucket with soap to wash the car. the water pump was replaced 8,000 miles ago, 7/7/2019. I am curious why do you find it amazing the car's had so many owners? (i'm #9) i just did an ownership history fwiw using carfax. when i bought the car, having only been in TX, OK and now CO, was certainly a factor influencing my decision to purchase.
Ownership History
Owner #1, licensed Oct.3.1994, Garland, TX, 15 miles (owned 6yrs.10mos)
Sept.31.2001, 50,756 miles, sold through Dallas, TX dealership (driven 50,741 miles)
Owner #2,51,002 miles, licensed Oct.10.2001, Madill, OK (owned 2yrs.3mos)
I have not tracked Corvette owners time of ownership, maybe this is a very common thing to do, or they are flipping cars. I bought my 77 in 2000 with one previous owner that I know of and I have no reason to sell it, maybe I'm just weird.

Thanks for your reply, reviewing the lineage of ownership, i wouldn't doubt mine was flipped a couple times, some of these cars have that kind of luck. and it had a 3 owners who kept it a combined total of 19 out of its 30 years. Considering i'm the 9th owner, it shows no signs of abuse or neglect, and the carfax shows regular services with all owners. The 8th owner had it 2 months, it was an impulse buy and he soon realized he couldn't afford to keep it, now it's with me in its temp-controlled garage. A couple weeks ago i had a 30 minute conversation with the 7th owner, which was affirming that the car was well-cared for condition when he purchased it May, 2017. I've noticed the lower the mileage, understandably prices go high pretty quickly. I plan on driving mine as often and as far as i can, so i'm glad it's not low mileage or i would be reluctant to drive it as much as i want to. And, i only paid $10K for it, so much car for so little money. I know some people consider the looks dated, but if one does not know Corvette's nor the distinctions of 8 generations, myself i believe the elegant simplicity of the exterior lines is near timeless. I love the damn thing!
The car looks to be in excellent condition. So if you paid 10K for it and maintain it it will never be worth less, that the thing about Corvettes after a few years they hold there price forever it seems, unless it was treated like a rented mule.

Thanks, Thomas. I can't imagine treating fine machinery "like a mule." Yuk. I've been with motorcycles 59 years, and love the exotic, old and new. Never been a car guy, but this Corvette has changed that. Sometimes, I sit in the cockpit for a half an hour or more making up for the decades i didn't have a car like this.
I have worked on corvetts that have been driven hard, and like any cars if you don't take care of the small issues as they arise you will end up with a long list of issues or get to the point where it stops running and parked in the back yard. I myself Prefer to baby my car so I don't break it. I had the 402 BB out last spring to fix a few small issues, refreshed the bottom end while there and installed a roller cam at the time doing away with the flat tappet, which have issues with over the years, If I was to replace this car I think I would graduate to a C-8 model, less work.
