Default 84 Z51 Rules!

Took the mighty crossfire to a "playday" hosted by the San Jac Vette Club at the H.P.D. driving course. It was a road course to which they added a slalom at the beginning and 3 gates and a slalom at the end. It was open road course between those points. All the C4's but mine were LT-1 cars. At days end I beat all the C4's and a lot of the 5's. WOOHOO! It was a blast, lotsa fun, lotsa neat cars, and a great group of people The Z51 package is absolutely amazing. Despite less than steller tires the car was easy to control and rotate. Can't wait to do it again.

$20 for this event , ran from around 10-4. SCCA autocrosses are between 20 and 30 dollars I believe. This was a local vette club event. they also rent tracks like Texas World Speedway and Houston Motorsport Ranch-and run the road courses, usually in conjunction with a local Porsche club or Viper club to share costs.

100 dollars really isn't bad. A track day on the bikes runs $150, an actual race weekend, even w/tire support costs me around $4-500.00 Being able to run the car flat out, and drive it to the absolute limit is worth every cent!

Sounds like something I wouldn't mind trying in the future. Did you take any pictures?

One guy got some video footage and one of the runs was mine-really good stuff. I'm supposed to get a dvd copy. I'll post it when I do.

I guess I'm uninformed, but is the Z51? Is it a suspension package? My 86 is a L98 engine. I am curious and trying to learn more about Corvettes. I spent 3 years restoring my '69 Camaro Z28 and can tell you anything you want to know about it, but am learning about 'Vettes. Thanks in advance. [8D]

Z51 is a suspension package, it was detuned somewhat after it's debut year in '84. It may be harsh, but it's absolutely effective.

The on the road pics were after the day was over, headed for food and drinks. My boy took the pics from my girlfriends SLK350, which I also ran:

Enjoy the pics!
