Default track times?

i guess that i wil be the first in here?

while i am not a regular racer by any means, i have had my car to the track a few times to see what it could do. and while i have seen magazines boast claims ranging from 12.7 and as fast as 12.4 i have only been able to muster a best of 12.89. i guess i am doing something wrong. [&o]

12.89 really isnt bad at all. how were your 60' times? were you shifting very hard?

i think i was shifting alright. some kid in a mustang decided to offer his 2 cents and told me that i shouldnt use the clutch....so i told him that my tranny cost more than his pos mustang. he asked me if i wanted to race, and i replied with, "do you want to get your *** beat?" he ran a respectble 13.2 something...i ran a 12.95..with the clutch...

hahahahahahahahahahahahaha...

i feel ya there silver..i hate mustang people like that...good for you! i have handed a few mouthy mustang boys their pride..i didnt ask if they were bothering to use the clutch or not..but when i run a stick, i always clutch...in nice easy street driving i will shift without, but clutchless power shifting is BAAAAAAAAAd for the driveline.

I guess I'm IGNANT!

I always use the clutch...seems like at best it will make sure the gears are lined up without jamming it in there and eventually wearing the corners of the gear teeth.

TNW, what was your reaction time on your runs? They seem like pretty decent times to me. Was the mustang a Cobra?

i thought my reaction times were ok, but a kid i was pitting next to told me in a polite way that they were not. i had 2 red lights that night, but those were my two best runs. i think my best was a 650 or something, and the kid told me that at that track .5 is perfect, but that at some tracks .000 is perfect.

it was a cobra, older one though. it wasnt one of the last couple year supercharged models, so maybe a 2000ish?

Those are decent reaction times. There's always someone out there that can beat you, and there is always someone out there that thinks they know more than you.
