i have an '84 with 46k that won't start. the fuel pump was replaced 5 yrs ago and i just replaced the fuel filter. it'll turn over for a while, almost start up with a sputter, then quickly die. any direction to point me in would be much appreciated

forgot to mention, its been in storage for the winter with a full tank and fuel stabilizer and hasn't been ran for 10 months. it also had a stench of rotten eggs coming from the exhaust when it ran. we've had problems with mice before, one made a home in my dirtbike's airbox, however the intake is completely clear and theres no sign of any damage from what i can see

How are the fuel injectors? Did you check them out? Fuel filter maybe?

you would have to expand quite a bit more on what you have checked but a broad answer to start, if it turns over like it should, would be fuel or ignition. sorry to be broad but i'd need more info not to be, jlitty has a good checking point

that sounds like some kind of fuel problem. check the shrader valve (spelling?) on the fuel rail. when u turn the ignition on, there should be a good amount of pressure on the rail if everything is working properly. if you use a small screwdriver or a paperclip or something to push down that valve, there should be a nice mist of fuel coming out
