I just recently purchased a Corvette and now my low oil light is on. I always check under where I park my car to make sure that there is no oil drips or anything. The guy who I brought the car off of said that the oil was recently changed and on the computer it said it was at 80%. I was wondering if the computer is accurate, is it common for my 2001 to burn oil and what I can do about this problem. Thanks.

I checked the dipstick and the oil level was just touching the bottom of it. I'm going to change the oil today.

Yes, as long as the previous owner reset the oil life monitor, it should be accurate. 80% means that you have quite a while before you need to change the synthetic oil. I change my oil once per year (about 5500 miles). The manual recommends that you change your oil when the monitor reaches 0% or one year, whichever comes first.

Some early-year 2001s had an oil burning problem, primarily because of the piston rings. "Flutter" occurs during high-rpm downshifting and oil gets past the rings at an accelerated pace. Some 01 owners had the dealership replace the rings. My 01 is a very late year model and I add a quart every 2500-3000 miles or so, depending upon my type of driving.
