ohhhh PS: What do you guys use on your convertible tops. McGuires says to use soap, but I have heard bad bad things about using soap on a conv. top.

Oh boy!!! Do NOT use soap on your roof!!!!! From the research I have done, the fabric on our roofs is not happy to have soap on it.. I believe it prematurely wears out the fibres or something. Anyways, I myself use a VERY soft nylon brush (one that almost tickles you when you run it over your arm when it's dry, it's so soft) and water. That's it. I soak my roof down, rinse it off thouroughly to remove all the stuff that is on top. Then, I take my nylon brush and VERY GENTLEY rub over the roof. Very very gentley. Then I rinse it again, to remove the stuff that the brush broke free from the fabric. From my experience, the roof looks good as new to me.
Soap on a nylon roof is OK, not great, but OK. The fabric roofs are a whole different story.
As an added level of protection, I am planning on applying this product called Raggtopp later this fall to our roof. It is made by a company of experts on care for fabric roofs. They have a formula for both cleaning and sealing, similar to Scotchguard for couches etc. We had a real nice 30th Anniversary Camaro a few years back with the fabric roof, and the Raggtopp product was so good at protecting the roof I didn't even need to brush it after applying it. Simply rinsing the roof was plenty as the dirt did not stick at all, and just rinsed right off.
I will leave the answering of your specific question on McGuires to someone who knows more about this than I do. I just use Simonz car wash from our local Canadian Tire and it seems to work OK for me.

I know this may be a little off subject but what is the best thing to get the bugs off the front of the hood and bumper? I have a white Vette and I am thinking of using Mothers Products? Anyone want to weigh in here?
