67 427 Timing
I've recently decided to upgrade my distributor to a MSD Tach drive until. I believe the factory transistorized ignition box was going out and have decided to upgrade since it keeps the car's factory look. It's also being ran in conjuntion with a MSD 6 Digital box.
The car was a monster (when it ran) before the upgrade (built to L88 specs), but since it's been rather controllable
I wanted to see if anyone has had experience with this change. I'm thinking the springs for the advance might be the problem. Perhaps I should go to red racing springs or simply lock it out?
Thanks for the help,
Joseph

I Installed the identcle MSD set/up in my 1966 B/B, A few years ago...very satisfied, >>>> prior to MSD my 66 ( cold start ) would take 6 seconds of cranking to fire up ,start & run rough/poorly for up to 10 minutes, totally resolved with installation of MSD. My 427 is totally rebuilt .030 over, TRW 2300 F pistons, Endlebrock alum ovalport heads, Comp Cam X-treme energy hyd cam , roller tipped rockers, no headders , stock side exhaust.........timeing 12/14 initial , 25 deg in distributer , approx 37 total............full vac advance on live port.........have total- advance coming in at 2600 RPM....Runs fine on 93 octaine..my engine was set up for street use with tons of mid-range tourque......... with 3.08 rear gears best ET 13.3 @ 105 MPH, Have since installed 3.70 gears think 12.8 is a possibility........your engine L88 is much more agressive...........but the vac advance gives better throttle response on the street. The MSD ignition & dist work very well for me....the Dog[sm=americanasmiley.gif]
