Just purchased my first Corvette. A white 1960 with a 327/4speed.
My question, under the dash, near the cowl vent handle, there is a cable mounted that appears to have the handle broken off. I think it may be used to operate a fresh air vent in the engine bay. Does anyone know what this is and where a person might find a replacement? Eklers does not appear to have this.
Thank you, Phillip
The early Corvettes had a cowl scoop in the center below the W/S that opened from the inside for fresh air. Not sure if the 1960 still had it or not. Another possibility would be to open kick panel vents. Places like Paragon and Corvette Central might carry the ****.
Probably figured it out by now but that does not belong there. may have been a secondary hood release as these are notorious for not working consistently.
Many have added thin wire to the hood release levers and run them in under the dash as emergency release mechanisms ?????
