Hi, Have any of y'all bought the 1 piece Astro Top 1. It is acrylic and looks good in the picture. I just bought a 1980 Vette and the T-tops have new weather stripping on them, but still leak a little. My T-tops didn't have headliners in them and the passenger side is missing several of the places where the headliner screws in. I think I can fix the leaking problem with some additional weather stripping and I guess I don't really need the headliners, but the one piece acrylic sounds good, if it fits right. Please let me know what you think.

 

I have the Astrotop. Works like a charm, fits like a glove. No leaks at all. Just don't lose the metal brackets for the back adjustment. It comes with the plastic ones attached, and they don't last very long. Definitely get the storage case as well, acrylic is not very scratch resistant.

Hi Wrwalke, I like the looks of the top on your car. What is that chrome looking spot on the drivers side of your top? It may be a reflection or maybe I'm looking inside the car. What color is your top (smoke grey, smoke bronze, or smoke blue)? My car is bright yellow and I'm wondering what color would look best on mine.

That isn't a chrome spot, it is the label on the Astrotop. I took that pic right after I put it on for the first time, and hadn't even removed the protective film on it. I got smoke grey, which is safe with any color body. Glad that I did go with grey instead of blue (my original choice), as I am painting the beast onyx metallic green with a white stinger scoop. Something tells me that the blue tops would look a little funky on a dark green car.

With that bright yellow, the blue tops would definitely stand out. Grey would be a bit less "bling". Bronze might look a little too 70's era disco, bell bottoms, and platform shoes for my tastes.

Thanks Wrwalke, I think I would probably like the smoke grey the best. This paint already has enough bling. How long have you had yours? Did you get it off ebay? Did you sell your t-tops?

Kept the T-tops for covering up in the summer time. The astrotop isn't as easy to pop on and pop off, so when I'm keeping the car in "ready to go topless" mode, I keep the T's on. Makes it much easier to run outside and throw the tops on when it starts to rain. I use the Astrotop for winter, when I know that I'll be running covered for several months.

I'm also 6'5" and 280 lbs, so the extra headroom was a huge reason to get the Astrotop.

Whatever color you choose I'm sure you'll enjoy it. I have a White 74 and I think the smoked gray would look great along with dark tinted windows, and that extra inch of head room will help. Zora built some great cars gut I wish he had been two inces taller.PG
