Default 1972 Dual top

Let me start by saying I am brand new at Corvettes. This is the first one I’ve ever owned. I bought it because everyone told me it was a super deal and I was buying it cheap. My question is, how do I find out exactly how many were made. I’m being told that there were not many made that had both soft top convertible and a hard top for the same car. Does anyone know if this is true? Does it make the car more special or any more valuable?

Welcome to the forums. I can't remember where I saw the GM production Stats. You should be able to Google them and it shows how many were made with options, convertible or coupe, auto or 4 speed engine type and from the vin number you can find out your cars birthdate. Not sure if you can find out about the removable hard top production.

Welcome to the forum. You could check with the National Corvette Museum but I don't think they have any data prior to the Bowling Green assembly plant building them. Is that by the door it'll make a lot. Another option would be to check with the NCRS.

I may be wrong, but I thought all convertibles would accept the removable hard top. My '72 has both.

I thought they made a hard top to fit all convertibles.
