Default 1975 Exhaust question

New to the forums and this place looks like a great site. Thanks for having me.

I have a 75 Stingray with a crate 350. It has the original headers with crossover and catalytic then to some ThurstMaster mufflers. I want to remove the cutover and the cats. No brainer there and a local shop charges $200 back to the bumper. So here are my questions....

1) I have read a few sites mention adding an "H" pipe to the mix in the rear to balance out the flow of the engine cycle so it seams that the engine is not so much acting as 2 halves. Any thought here?

2) I want the car to be rude but not obnoxious. I have a 23 Tbucket with headers collected into one fat pipe and just slightly baffled and love the sound. Should I go back with Thrust Master pipes or everyone suggests going into cherry bombs. We do get out in the Stingray and cruise around and it has a nice tone currently but I want something a little more angry. Anyone have a straight back system now and what are they running? Are cherry bombs a nice sound on a C3?

Thanks again and look forward to any suggestions.

cherry bombs give a nice tone but i would suggest something like them you should check www.jegs.com or www.summitracing.com they both have a nice selection.
hope that helps.

as for the h-pipe it does balance the mix and is good for engines in the 200 hp rang but anything 300 hp or higher and i have had problems with losing horespower.
again hope this helps.

Welcome to the forum.

From what I've read about adding H-pipes, you need to use some temperature sensitive paint along the exhaust pipe to see where the hot and cool areas are. You then know where to place the H-pipe. Sorry but I can't remember whether it's the hottest or coolest area but you can probably search the net.
