does anybody now why my 1981 vette has 3 red wires in the starter extension harness.every thing I have read or seen only has 2 red wires going to starter out of harness. mine has 2 black grounds that go to bellhousing, a black and a blue going to temp sending unit, purple going to starter- closest to block,and 3 red going to top connection of starter.why the extra red wire?

 

You can check out the schematic in the factory service manual or check with some of the aftermarket suppliers such as Paragon or Corvette Central. I think one of them sells the schematic by itself. If they don't other Corvette suppliers might.
