Hang in there Dave [&:]What doesn't kill ya will make ya stonger . I have done a few different conversions and like you say it's the little things that you don't think of that sneek up on ya[]. Just take it with a grain of salt, smile and keep going. It's not that it has to be done right now so slow down enjoy the car and work on it at a pace that you enjoy.. It is allways nice to get it done but it is not worth getting frustrated over because you then loose the enjoyment.[:-]All the best . Talk at ya later.

I look at this, asa great learning experience.
I hope to pass along to others, what I have learned.

Headers? Well, after the pully didn't fit, I crawled back under to hook up the headers. It turned out that the header on the pass side, wants to hit on the steering knuckle that mounts to the frame.

I'll pick up the motor mounts that fit a '73 454 Vette. I'm positive that they will fix the probs. I have the 350 mounts under it right now.

What do ya think Dave , if you raise the engine with the new motor mounts will it give you clearance between the headers and the idler arm or are you going to have to massage the headers with the smoke wrench and Ford tools. (hammer)

Actually, the header hist on the very end of the top bolt, of the idler arm mounting.
The fit is so close, I'm sure the right motor mounts will solve the two probs, giving the clearance I need.

Keep up the good work Dave ,and let me know what it is going to cost me to use all this information when I do the swap in mine next year. The oil pan you got I am guessing was for a big block73/74 with p/s.Good luck on this weeks endevors. we are rooting for you.

This info is pretty expensive, so take notes, there will be a quiz later.
Oil pan is from a '73 BB Vette.

I wish I had the tech to post pics every few days. [&o]
I'm surethey would help others.
Thank you all, for the encouragement on this project.

Here's some of the "Redneck engineering" used to do the implant.
Note the trench, tractor, chain hoist, and tri pod extentions. Rosa ran the tractor while I pulled the chain, to lift the 454, and then to lower it into place.

(that boo-hoo-roo in the background is not mine, the neighbor has about 6 of'em, and none of them run )

At the top of the mountain, behind our place,
you can see the tree of our forest. [sm=icon_rofl.gif]

Way to go C3Starship, there is a little " Bubba " in all of us. A mega tripod, a trench and a loving wife on the tractor, what more could you ask for? Ya gotta do what ya gotta do to get er done!
I looked in the AIM and I think your on the right track as far as the motor mounts. They list mounts for the L-48 & L-82 but I couldn't find anything on the 454 so they must be special. I saw a post from someone who said they just turned the 350 mounts around, could it be that easy? Hang in there, and keep the progress reports coming. PG
