have a 74 vette, came with a 400th, can a 700r4 bolt right in? or is there a driveshaft or mount issue?

 

i have a 75 with a700r4 and a lock up conveter 2800 stall.,3 36 rear gears. had it for many years no problems! the tail shaft is longer on the r4 so need to have the drive shaft shortened and balanced.you need to find a slip yoke for the 700r4 the 400 wont work. the crossmember will need to slide back about 1 to 2 inches but you can do that yourself. use a black speedo gear it will be close. shift linkage will need some minor work.detent linkage in car will need a kit from doctor rebuild. i put a toggle switch on the lock up when you are in final gear.you also need differant cable to carb for proper shifting see the trans guy !!! good luck e mail me with any questions tony skibumtl@charter.net ps 2300rpm @70 mph
