Default 74 IS NOW RUNNING GREAT!!!!!

Hi All,
First I would like to thank everyone for their input.
Thought you might like to know what it took to get my 74 running the way it should.
Turns out both of my floats were set to high.
After setting them correctly the car ran better but still had some bucking under a load.
Sprayed carb cleaner and added fuel additve to clean out system, no help.
Noticed that inline clear fuel filter had a black spot of something floating around in it and where the rubber fuel line attaches to the bottom of the filter the clamp was missing, the hose was ready to pop off.
This would have been a real serious problem on the road.
Gas would have been sprayed at 4-5 psi all over my hot block.
I replaced the filter and rubber fuel lines and all clamps.
Problem now solved, car never ran this good.
I wonder if the rubber gas line being loose and ready to pop off had something to do with the bucking or was it just the filter and the float adjustmets.
Anyway, live and learn.
Schoon

[sm=icon_rock.gif]Glad to hear it's all better. Thanks for the feed back, in my case, it helps to verify if I wason the right track or not. Partially yes, but I see others were hittin' the mark too.
Thank you!

It is possible that the loose fuel line caused a Venturi effect (sucking air into the flowing fuel) instead of squirting it out. This would definitely screw things up, just a thought.

Great that you got it fixed. Now you also know why GM uses steel fuel lines on the pressure side of the pump.
