Hi maro, Iv'e got the pace car seats in my '78 although I don't think they were the stock seats. My car was built in late '77 and the date on my seats is Sept. 1978. The pace car seats are padded more than the earlier seats and are not bad as far as comfort but there isn't any adjustment for the angle, they bolt into the factory locations and fit fine.

Hi Maro and welcome to the forum. Yes C-4 seats bolt right into our C-3"s but have you checked the adjustment bolts on your seats? There should be 4 adjustment screws on each of your seats, the seat back screws should have a rubber bumper on them. The seat cushion screws have no bumpers, so if your missing those bumpers the seat leans back too much.
Another place to look: push down on the seat cushion bolts, if they move you have a cracked seat frame, and you can fix this with an after market part called the "seat bottom repair plate" it attachesto the broken seat frame to reinforce it where the bolts screw in. Hope this helps, PG

PG, how much adjustment do the seat backs have? My seats are in good shape, and I prefer the laid back possision, but my wife sits on the passenger side, and would like to sit more upright. She won't drive the "Starship", says it's all mine.
She wants a 450 SL. Don't get her wrong, she loves the "Starship" too.

While you are limited to how far you can recline the seat back due to the vertical kickup behind the seats where it goes over the third member, you can put some spacers under the front ends of the seat tracks where they bolt to the floor. Might need a longer bolt.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I need to get the passenger seat back, to be more upright.
My seat is just fine.!

If you can't get enuf change from the seat back adjustments, then just put the spacers at the back of the tracks. The downside is that you lose a little headroom when you use the spacers.

HI C3 Starship, 73 shark had the answer for you, just put an equal amount of washers between the seat bottom and the floor of the car untill your wife is happy.
The rubber bumpers don't last long, mabye someone will offer poly bumpers some day.
Good to hear from you. PG
