There is a local c3 I really want to go check out. Car is a 4speed 1977. Owner did some work to the 350. Car looks to be in decent shape with what appears to be a bit of surface rust on the frame. The thing that really scares me with these cars is rust. I've read a lot about what to check for on the frame/birdcage, but I still wouldn't feel comfortable making an offer until someone who knows c3's took a look at it and gave me their opinion on the car and what it's worth. Is there anybody in the Chicago land area (south suburbs) that can come take a look at the car? If not, is there a reputable garage that someone can recommend to me? I found a garage that works on lots of old cars, and the owner told me he'd look at the car free of charge since the dealership I work at sends him a lot of business. But I don't know if they really know c3's the way an expert would. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Check for some Corvette clubs in the area. They'd be the most likely to know of someone who could help.
