Looks good. Can you tell if it's original factory paint?

Hey Shark, I do believe that it's original paint.
So this is what I am starting with, a 454 .030 over, around 40-50 thousand miles. A good cleaning and check out, then re-trim with correct accessories.

I know you'll probably think of this but just in case, be sure to check hood clearance with that high-rise manifold if you use a stock air cleaner.

Do you have big block Corvette exhaust manifolds or are you planning on putting headers on it?

Oh yeah, I know about hood clearance issues... Since I have the original exhaust manifolds they're going back on. For now....

Today was the day! It's a little snug, but it is in! Now all the hard work starts...

Looking good. Did you have a helper get it lined up with the tranny?

No, just me. So after a little research it appears that this is an LS 5. And after all is said and done it's a '72. I forgot to update my original post. Now that the big piece is in, I get the fun of figuring out some of the little pieces that are probably missing. Currently waiting on parts already. Thankfully I have found some pretty good parts sources online.

You're better man than me. There were two of us working to put my friends big block back in his '66 roadster and wound up not getting it aligned correctly with the tranny the first time and had to do it over.

A potential source for hard to find parts is a Corvette salvage yard in Pennsylvania called Contemporary Corvettes.

Thank you! I'll remember to check with them as I start needing more parts.

Got exhaust manifolds done. The hood is not bolted on but the stance looks great.
