Question bucket of rust !

Hey out there: I bought a 79 rust bucket sight unseen. Bad move, but I got it now. Have to put floorpans in. Just wondering if anyone has done it? would it be good to butt weld or what? Thanks Jeff in central Fla.

Were you aware that one of the aftermarket suppliers sells floorpans?

Default rust

Yep! I found some in the catalogs. I just wasn't aware of how to go about the welding job.

Not a welder but you might check w/ the supplier to see if the new pans are flanged. Might be easier to weld then.

Default Cost versus benefits

You might want to check out the rest of your "bucket of rust" to see just how extensive the rust damage is. Have you checked the frame rails, especially where they kick up in the rear? How about the windshield frame (birdcage)? It can be very costly, time consuming and frustrating to restore a badly rusted project. Sometimes it is better to start out with a project that needs less, even if it costs a little more initially.
