Changing rearend mount cushion
First off, hello all this is my first post on your site. just recently i finally was able to accomplish a dream that i had just put in the back of my mind. that was to own a Corvette, especially one of the late C3's, 80,81,82. not to bore you guys but i bought me a real nice 82 and as you know any old car will need some tlc. in my case i need to change two small rubber cushions that go on the cross member. i belive some call it a snubber cushion too. the symptoms are that when i put the car into drive and you know how the car will kinda squat, well the cross member hits on another bracket. i was told that the bushing is worn out. i have the new one in hand and have a builders manual. by the looks of it, it may be a complex job. has anyone ever done this before and can a weekend mechanic do this. what looks hard about it is getting the old bushing out! thanks for the help fellas!
It's not really that bad to change. Use jack stands to get the rear up in the air and a floor jack to ease the pressure off the crossmember. Small pry bar or large screw driver to move componants around after they are loose. Hope this helps.
