chin spoiler - high speed
Hi there,
My Corvette has this spoiler . look at pic.( sometimes I have seen some Corvettes without it)
It helps to direct the air toward the radiator , Ok . But ,does it help the car to be more stable at high speed ( above 120mph , reducing the air flow under the car)? Or instead , worst, it directs the air toward the floor , lifting the car's front at high speed?
thanks
Aldo

RE: chin spoiler - high speed
Signor,
Not sure, but being placed where it is and it's hight off the ground I believe it is intended more to re-route the air for the radiator rather than for handling, Like PG said.It looks as if itmay benefit both, but to really be effective for re-routing the air for handling, It would really need to be lower and widerand your car would need the side and rear ground effects to keep the air from reentering under the car on the sides and back. This causes somewhat of a vacuum under the car. Surprisingly enough air entering from the side or rear will lift a car as well. The idea is to lessen the pressure under the car, (vacuum),and allow the greater pressure of the air going over the top to push down. Hope that helps some.

Thanks.
I start to think that the Chin spoiler may have a bad effect on front aerodynamic ( air flow partially directed toward the floor). anyway I don't expect to go fast with my car, so not a problem
