Chrome bumper conversion
My son is looking at a 1974 with the urethane (I think) front and rear bumpers. HeREALLY wants the chrome front and rear. He is not averse to mixing and matching to get the look he wants. So, my question to the collective is can the front and rear be converted from plastic to chrome? How extensive is the job? What are the pros and cons if it can be done. The problem is that we live in Maine and so our accessis limited. He really wants69-72 but those models have been unavailable - especially in the price range (10K) we're shopping. Could we do it with a 74?
Any help is greatly appreciated

I gotta say "Forget about it". either be happy with urethane or look for a Chrome bumper year. The 74's started with urethane front and rear which worped and discolored, when I bought my car it had fiberglass front and rear and it's still perfect. And Tell your son "Thats for me, you keep looking and see how fast he likes the 74.
The bumpers are a personal choice, you'll love either car once you get used to it. And children grow up too fast so if you have a father & son project go for it! PG
