Default Clutch fan alternatives?

We have an 81 that has the stock GM clutch fan. Hate to say this, but when you head out - or really get on it - geez.... this thing sounds like a school bus. The clutch fan is new, etc....

What are you others doing for fan cooling out there? Flex fans? Need to consider slow moving traffic occasionally.

thanks in advance. Great site, Great forums.

Ken

I have always like Flexlite fans. Also try a cooler thermostat and some water wetter in the coolant.

I have a flexfan on mine but it roars just as much. I'm going to put on that electric fan that sits in front of the radiator. JC Whitney has it for around a $100.

i have dual electric fans on my car, and while i dont recall the price they are VERY easy to install, as any parts store sells very simple install kits. ...just make sure (as simple as this seems) that you mount them on the proper side of the radiator..ive seen lots of guys at cruises and at the track who overheat because they have a fan facing the wrong way.
