Say, this is the time for the colorful leaves, no? Here in Texas we don't have much of that, but back home in New York, the leaves are fantastic when they are changing colors just prior to falling. Always are school homework assignment as a kid to bring in that best greatly colored maple leaf, a monster in size, and colorful as hell. Then after they all fall, you rake them up and jump in them, pissing my father off as he's ready to burn them in a pile. years ago, as I think burning the leaves is against the law now.

Enjoy your weekend, just "chill" and appreciate the time and beauty of nature. Am I getting old, and dull? Naw, it should be neat. Let us know how it turns out. Have a great time.

So, You're going to the mountians of eastern TN. Absolutly beautiful this time of year. But like TJ said New York is quite beautiful as well. Haveing grown up there as well I remember all of the things TJ mentioned. I have a nice hardwood forest right behind my house here I Middle TN. and the leaves are beautiful as well. I'll be spending a lot of time in them soon as Deer season opens.

Have fun and stay safe. Stop by dickson if you want. I'll leave the light on. Cheers.

Blueshark, Where in NY are you from? I went to High School in Ossining, but we lived all around southern Westchester and NYC and have all of our relatives scattered through that same area...and I miss NY quite abit. My parents, born in 1912 (father born in Catskill)and 1916 (mother born in Croton-on-Hudson) really gave us history's big picture of the earlier days of NY and that's unually how I picture that area, what a background. The "Big Apple" still excites me whenever I go home for a visit. And even in the City, you can still find some trees that represent the changing of the seasons. Like you in Tennessee, I love my new home (Texas), but still am and will always be a part of the N.E.. You don't appreciate what you have until it's (you're)gone.
Please excuse my getting "off-topic." Oh, and when you get going over 100 mph in your C3 'Vette, the beautiful colors of the season's leaves turn into a beautiful great blurr of blending colors.

AAhh the leaves. It is a bitter sweet time here in Michigan. Yes the colors are beautiful and the landscapes awesome. Such a great time of year in one way yet a sad time in another. Of course this also signals us that the time has come to prepare our vettes for the winter hibernation. This is the time for the last few drives of the year. I always take the wife, jump in our baby and head up north to take in the colors. The trip home is very sad as I give her the last wash and wax, cover her up and zip up the car bag around her for that long sleep. The only good thinmg about the whole process is the anticipation of getting her back out in the spring. Oh well, just a part of living here.

watwheel,
Cool reply. I know "just the feeling" of that time of year/your feelings tward it, etc.. Hit a "home nerve."
Here in Texas, we can drive all year, as the chilly fronts that come in usually only last about three days before it warms back up. Don't get me wrong, we have it chilly herein the winter, but ofcourse nothing close to what you have there in Michigan. I haven't had my 'Vette out since Hurricane Ike (we only got a small five minute mist from that storm) came through, but only due to the fact that I just haven't had the time to "cruise."
I'll take a cruise w/ the tops off for you this winter, when you have your first snow storm, I'll be watching the news. LOL

TJ. I grew up in a little town called Clifton Park, in Saratoga County. On the edge of the Adirondack National Forest. Spent a lot of time in the woods. It's really nice here but I too miss home. Nothing as beautiful as sitting on top of Bald face mountain looking at pikes peak and the park like forest below, while eagles fly over head. Just thinking of the history of that area is mind boggling. My ancestors go back to the mid 16th century there. Been to Bear mountain down where you came from many times.

Flying Low, The Blue Ridge mountains of W-NC and E-TN are very beautiful as well. Lots of great sites and driving, and the hospitality of the local mountain folk is great. If you get the chance and make it to Cherokee, NC. take the 30 min Helicopter ride from the place just down the road from the Casino. What a way to see the colors. There's also a place in Pigion Forge, TN, justnorth from Dollywood. Have a great time. Cheers

You guys bring back some fond memories. I was born and bread in NYC, 350 5th AVE. Talk about crouds! I had a chance to travel to a lot of the places you mention.
The Adriondack Mountains a realy beautiful, I was able to spend a few years up in the Hunter Mountain area, truly beautiful around autum. I think I burned out most of my brain cells at Woodstock back in 69.
After that I went to Texas, got cought in a tornado and two dust storms so I left there in less than 1 year.
Whaterver brought me to Wisconson, I don't know, but that was too cold.
Endeded up in Memphis, Tn for a year. Great food but just to humid.
Spent some time in Florida, east coast, then west coast.
Ended up in Mount Holly, just justside of Charlotte.
North Carolina seems like the best place of all, Next move, could be closer to the mountains in Ashville, point is America is a great place, see all of it that you can. PG.
