Does anbody????
Does anybody on this web sight WORK on there cars???? Over a year now I have ask a what I think is a very simple question for anybody who has worked on a c3. NO answer. I can ask the same question on my mopar sight and have 50 replys before I hit enter. What do you people do? Take your car somewhere to air put in the tires. I have in my garage put an ls engine and 700r4 in a 73 coupe. It starts and runs great.Shifts like a dream( I rebuilt the trans). I ask where three wires on the 75-78 electric tach go and nobody and I mean nobody on this sight has ever had the dash out of there's to replace a light bulb or has a clue about anything. You people need to pick up some tools and start working on your car and then this sight will have some worth.
After your post I went to my wiring diagram but it doesn't tell you where to connect the wires to the tach and I haven't had my dash out. I can feel your frustration but no way would I wait a year for an answer,I'd have got on the stick and went to a salvage yard or somewhere? Maybe I would have just plugged 'em on and seen what happened,it doesn't seem like it would be all that hard to figure it out. Probably take less time to do that than to fire up the computer and type out a fairly long post. But generally I'm sorta slow around the computer and only about 1/2 fast around the garage.

I've completely redone my suspension and drive train. As funds allow, I'll be continuing with more restoration. It will be some time 'til I get into the wiring.
To imply that none of us work on our own cars is way out of line. To wait a whole year for a responce is, to me, just plain laziness on your part.
Figure it out and pass the info along, that's what we do here.

I have been a Mopar guy for over forty years, new to this corvette thing and I can tell you or find out anything about them in a heart beat. Just like the guy who told me He looked at his wiring diagram. No clear info. So I buy a diagram and unless they show the connector veiw I am still lost. I teach auto at a college here and I don't teach a "what if" class. I know it is right when I do it. Does anybody have a parts car that can donate the connector to to tach. The wire colors will tell me how to wire it. The car is ready to drive as soon as I can put the dash back in. My choices are to let three wires hang lose from under the dash til I can find out how to hook them up or due it right now.
The tach has 3 wires going to it: #390 a pink wire =B+ or "hot",#121 a brown wire which goes to the "tach" terminal on the distributor and a black wire which is ground. The shop manual shows the three terminals arranged with 150 and 390 beside each other with 150 on the left,121 is below 390 as pictured on the schizmatic. Are they arranged this way on the tach itself? The manual is 68-82 and does not separate the years on the schizmatic I referred to. There is an 81-82 supplement later in the book.
Not being a professional in the automotive field,I can hook up wires and watch for smoke with impunity,my identity is not in any way damaged by a blown fuse. If you don't tell your students you took a shot in the dark I sure won't! Hook it up and see what happens!

Cuda,
I take it that you don't have a connector?
Or the wires had been removed from it?
Have you tried to find the part of the harness from a parts house?
You might try pacvette.com , they deal in used Vette parts.

CUDA,
I understand where you are coming from. This site has slowed up alittle in the last year or so. At one time, we had quite afew guys who had really gone through their 'Vettes. The guys who are still here turn their own wrenches also. I have an '81 which is different than your's. I for one, from now on, will reply to certain poast that I see aren't getting any replies. If we get together and toss these things around, we can find the info f/ and w/ each other. I will say that we are lacking numbers here, and many heads are better than one. Hope you understand and will be back w/ us, CUDA.
I have to say that at first, when I got reading this topic, I fell out laughing, and felt guilty about doing so. You guys are a trip to say the least.
Again, hope we see you again, CUDA.

From my other post, I recieved an answer and the one here from partsman41 is also correct. Sorry for the rant and thanks. I am very close to driving my 73 with the 6.0 ls. I should be close to 400 hp. Can't wait.
