Default Horsepower question

I know it will be just a ballpark without using a dyno, but I'm curious as to what I might be at.

Rebuilt 350 with edelbrock everything including headers, borla true dual exhaust (no catalytic converter), 830cfm holley 4 barrel carb. MSD Ignition with blaster 2, B&M shift kit with torque converter.
Rebuilt 350 muncie trans.

Is it cammed? It's really hard to make a guess, around 300 to 350?.....Hmmm......

I agree with starship... With enough fuel and air flow in, and enough exhaust flow out, you have made the first good step up. Now that you have air and flow in, you need to route it (decent intake), get it into the cylinders (decent valves and cam), burn it completely (you have the MSD stuff there to make that part happen), and then move the exhaust out (again with the valves and cam).

a fairly "tame" cam, decent heads, "big enough" carb and airflow, and low restriction exhaust without a bunch of emissions stuff... 280-330 hp at the crank. Add in high flow heads and a slightly agressive cam, and you can get anywhere from 330 to 400 hp at the crank. Get hog wild with your cam profile, add in some fancy high compression pistons and monster heads... it gets pretty untame pretty quick.

Just curious what heads and cam your running cause a 830 cfm carb is pretty big for a small block?
I have a 383 stroker with dart heads 2:05 valves and a comp 280 cam and a 750 is more than enough carb pushin close to500 hp.
best money you can spend on an engine for power is in the cam and heads!!!!

500 hp? That's a lot of power there, blackblue! You must have a real tight squeeze under the heads there... 11:1? 12.5:1 maybe?

Previous owner put the carb on. I may change it.

Some more info though:
I have oversized aluminum headers and I was told a very aggressive cam.

yeah 11:1 dome tops runs on pump gas barely!! only the premium stuff and some times a little boost like a few gallons of airplane fuel thrown in or some racing fuel.

Looks pretty strong there, blackblue!

Rick... ALUMINUM headers[sm=smiley25.gif][sm=smiley25.gif][sm=smiley25.gif]. I'm turnin' into a genuine fossil! I never even HEARD of aluminum headers...
