Default Need help with edelbrock carb install on 71 BB

It's 1407 Edelbrock carb I'm using on the stock cast iron manifold of a 71 ls5 454. Anyway, the throttle cable needs to move back toward the firewall from the stock bracket position so it can completely open the secondaries. I've looked at summit, jegs, etc for an adjustable bracket or at least one that mounts further back. No dice. Can anyone suggest a solution? All the brackets I've seen have a square hole and the stock cable has a round shape and is clamped by the stock bracket.

What do you mean? Buy a cable that looks like this?

Where the cable attaches at the gas pedal put the tie wrap at the end and cut off the excess instead of trying to reposition the bracket under the hood.

Can you reposition the stud on the carb bellcrank to take the slack out of the cable, maybe drill a new hole and use a new aftermarket ballstud.

You didn't like my Bubba fix? Did you find a better way?

I don't mind a Bubba fix, just didn't see how this would help. The distance between where the cable attaches to the stud and where it connects to the bracket does not allow for enough travel to engage the secondaries. I dont understand how making the cable shorter at the pedal would help. No, I still have not figured this one out. Like I mentioned many adjustable brackets with a square cable mount, mine is round.

Does the gas pedal have enough "BEND" in it?

Can you post a picture?

Wouldn't matter how much I move the cable or pedal at that end, the end connected to the carb and the bracket are too close and do not allow for the necessary travel. It's not a matter of the cable is too long, it's that the distance between the end of the cable and where the cable goes into it's sheathing is not enough using the geometry of the Edelbrock throttle linkage.

Ok I think I got it, the problem is between the carb and the bracked. Have you called edelbrook help line.

I have a stock manifold and Q-Jet so I don't have anything else to offer.
Sorry and happy hunting.
