RE: new to corvettes
The first Sting Rays (2words) were mid years 1963-67. Starting in 68 Stingray became one word and was used for many years to describe these C3 cars. If it says Sting Ray or Stingray on the fender it is a Corvette Stingray and can be referred to as a C2(63-67) or a C3 (68-82). Somewhere in the C3 run they dropped the Stingray but I am not sure which year.
So all Stingrays are C3's but not all C3's are Stingrays. All Sting Rays are C2's and all C2's are Sting Rays. That should make it as clear as mud.
