Obviously too late now but I wished I'd offered my nest of snake, side exhaust headers for almost next to nothing to you just to get them out of my basement.

I'd have to figure out what size box I'd have to construct to put them in and then weigh them. Would probably put them in two boxes to keep the size reasonable. I don't believe they are Hooker however because I couldn't find the Hooker heart emblem on the side pipes. They are in good condition and I do have new fiberglass packed inserts for them that I'll throw in. Any idea what they'd be worth to you disregarding the shipping?

That sounds like a good plan. And you are right it's hard sometimes to find someone good to work on your cars that won't mess them up.

JMorgan I noticed your 77 has no Power brake booster which was a standard option for 77. No A/C must be brutal in the summer time.

I ordered my '73 without A/C and it was a big mistake. After a couple of years, I found a salvage unit that I pulled all the factory A/C off and put it on mine. Much better.

When I rebuilt the car, I installed new parts or rebuilt parts on everything, including a new power brake booster, and new power steering cylinder, rebuilt the pump, all new bushings, tie rods, etc. Everything new or better than new. And when I drove the car, I was very disappointed in the looseness of the steering. Every turn on a twisty road in PA started with a slight delay of the car to turn, followed by a need to over-correct, all of which I thought was pretty sad for a Corvette. There was a good inch of play in center of the steering before any reaction from the car. And this was with a Gary Ramadei built steering box..!!! The best. So, I decided to convert it back to manual steering,.....which has been THE most significant improvement I made to the car. The steering is really tight,....and with the very slightest motion of the steering wheel, the car reacts...like a sports car should. There is also tremendous road feel....meaning, there is a great relationship with the road. It drives like a sports car should.....and you MUST drive it. I absolutely love it, and makes the car more fun than anything I ever have driven. Everyone always whines about how hard it is to drive a manual car....and I laugh. In a three point, parking lot turn...yes, its has some load on it. So what? Its no big deal. Above ten miles per hour....I could drive it with my fingertips. Whatever "sacrifice" there supposedly is......the way the car connects with the road, and me,.....worth it.

Once I made the power steering conversion.....I also decided to convert it back to manual brakes.....and the improvement in pedal feel was also worth it. The car does not slow one millisecond slower than with power brakes. In fact, a car slows as a result of the brake calipers and rotors....not a power brake booster. The only difference in slowing the car is the amount of force on the drivers leg, and it takes very little. I can skid the tires with my manual brakes....so you need no more. And the feel of the brakes if much more proportional. I found the factory power brakes to be too sensitive and lacking feel.

Both of the above cleans up the engine compartment, minimizes clutters.....and less junk to worry about. And bonus for me,.....it made the car drive better on the twisties and more fun.

As for airconditioning, ......I drive the car 99% of the time with the T-tops off and windows down.....and I typically drive the car 5000 miles a year in Western PA....yes, FIVE THOUSAND. And even on the hot humid days of summer, i.e. 90 plus degrees, I still enjoy the car. I am a motorcycle guy, so being 'in the wind", is a mandatory part of fun. There is NO airconditioning on a Harley. My airconditioning is called "wind", and it works just fine. Sure, sometimes its hot on the worst days of summer, in the afternoon....so what? It doesn't bother me at all.

Over on the other forum, the one I got banned from, I read alot about heat transfer in C3 Corvettes from engine compartment to passengers compartment. In my car, I have ZERO heat transfer from the engine compartment to the interior, because I have made all the proper steps in ensuring that. And.....I certainly have no interest in cluttering up my engine compartment with airconditioning junk, i.e.......you could give me an AC system, and I wouldn't install it. Not for me. I rarely even turn AC on in my daily drive C6 Corvette, because again.....windows down, top off. Its my style and works for me just fine. I don't need or want airconditioning.

As for heat in colder weather....I previously drove the car most of the time without a heater system....but I am trying to extend my spring and fall season driving,....and being cold is hard to fix without an in-car system. But mostly, it allows me to drive on those colder days with maybe the T-tops on....but windows down. I really do not like driving this car, or the C6, with the tops on and windows up. Takes alot of the fun away. So with a heater system, I can crank it up full hot....and drive with the windows down, and still be comfortable.

I told you guys I was different than your average Corvette guy........!!! Some people can't handle it,......and people get upset because I won't align with the mob mentality. Other great subject matter of the discontent are modern overdrive transmissions, LS conversions, electric radiator cooling fans, and of course the big one....race car mentality on engine rebuilds. Peoples head explode if you don't agree with them.
