Default No brakes

Well I was about to take my nefew for a ride after eating Thanksgiving diner.Backed out and brake pedal went to the floor. Only had time for a quick look, could not see brake fluid at any of the wheels. the front reservoir on master cylinder was half full, back was full.
Anybody got any ideas. Thanks in advance.

Good morning Flying Low. If you can have someone help you try pumping the pedal slowly full travel and look for leaks under the car. If you haven't found any fluid on the floor it could be on the side of the tires. If you find no leaks then the master cylinder is at fault

Sat for a while? Check the MC. Sounds like another post a while back. Happened to mine and a new MC fixed the problem. Happy T-Giving!

Yup, a seal on the MC or one of the brake calipers let go. Our cars do not get driven enough and moisture attacks these areas when they sit for extended times.

No doubt; no fluid leaking, master cylinder still full, means the master cylinder is GONE, fluid is flowing around the piston. Rebuild or buy another. Quick fix. Bench bleedit and install. Probably should bleed all four wheels, but you won't get much air out of them. Then you're in perfect shape.
Sorry f/ the unfortunate timing, I mean on Thanksgiving w/ your nephew and all, but much better than the brakes going out while you two were cruising along. Maybe NOT so unfortunate timing. You got a Christmas Miracle the day before the Christmas Season started. You must be living right.

What mods have youmade to the 2004r? I've read alot of good things about that tranny, plus it bolts right up. That would be my choice. Glad to see that someone has gone w/ that model.

I really don't remember,it's a Bowtie Overdrive setup for (I think) about 400 HP. It has a moderate increase in stall rpm and the tough bands and clutches. I have had the car on the road for a little over a month now and I really like the tranny! It's turning about 2350 rpm at 75 mph. Gotta shift down in town because when it goes into OD and lockup the engine is below idle speed. When I took the stock tranny mount adapter thingy off the stock 79 crossmember the 200 mount bolted to those holes! Absolutely no drilling or welding which,as I see it, is about as good as it gets! The motor mounts are stock 79 on the LT1 engine. I'm running an Edelbrock 800 cfm carb on an Edelbrock manifold right now since I didn,t want to spend the money on a stand alone ECM for the stock injection and I'm not smart enough to put the 97 Camaro stock loom and ECM into the 79. Too much carb so it's not real crisp in town, but does it ever run nice when it gets a little rpm to work with! The rack & pinion(Steeroids) with the composite springs and the heavy sway bars make a VERY nice package! The 79 is so much fun that the 84 pretty much sits in the driveway.
