Default Odd tabs on stock 71 valve covers

There are a couple of tabs on the stock covers. Passenger side. Anyone know what they were used for.

I’ve seen them on a couple of cars but no one knows anything about them.

Welcome to the forum.

The are to spread the load of the bolt and help the gasket seal better. I thought they would be on all eight bolts tho.

Oops, now I see you are talking about the brackets on top of the valve cover. Probably were used to attach hoses and/or wires to such as emissions related stuff. Just a guess. Probably could see in the Corvette Assembly Manual.

Default Thank you. I forgot about California Emissions. That’s what it is. Looks unfinished.

I’m going to take some Artistic License and go to LT1 aluminum covers.

Good move. I had mine polished and they look 100% better.
