Default Odometer

Restored the 69 myself. Had all guages working; even the clock. When I reinstalled the short "odometer reset" cable into the bracket under the steering wheel, I got too sharp a kink in the cable and the odometer broke as soon as I turned the rear wheels. However, the speedometer still works. Problem: I can't remember what the gears look like inside the speedometer. The assembly manual does not show it either. Question: Does anyone have, or know where I can get, (buy, steal or borrow) a picture of the inside gears in the speedometer/odometer. I will need to tear out the whole insturment panel again but first I want to purchase the gears that, no doubt, broke in there and have them ready to go right back in. Thanks, in advance, for any help you may have. j

Hi Alive 69, you must be very proud that you have restored everything yourself, when I buy gas and attract a crowd I say Check it out everything on this car works even the clock! So I understand where your coming from. As far as your problem, I've never seen the gears inside the speedometer sold seperately you'll probably have to buy the whole unit as a reproduction of original. I bought a 90 degree adaptor which fits on the distributor, that eliminates the first sharp turn in the cable and gives you about 1 inch more cable. Hope this helps, Pete.

That's funny... I say the same thing. "Check it out, everything works... even the clock.

Only thing is that my odometer doesn't work... It permantly has 66k miles. The tripmeter reset is frozen too.

Thanks guys. That 90 degree adapter sounds great once I get the odometer fixed. I would need one on the short "reset" cable tho. The one coming off the distributor is fine because the speedometer is working good. There is something broken between the speedo gear and the odometer gear. j
