What year did this become impossible?

 

Actually, that is illegal in the states. When you purchase a rebuilt IP, they ask you what your mileage is so they can set it.

 

That's good to know. Was it changed over to make it impossible for people who flaunt the law?

 

Yes, and also so the dealer and factorywould know when the warranty mileageis exceeded. I had to have the IP replaced in my Jimmy at about 48000 and the factory was pestering the dealer steady to replace it ASAP soI wasn't going to getextra miles on the warranty.
