painting headers

Default painting headers

What is the best hi-temp.paint to use on hooker competition plus headerson my 79 350. looking for a silver color, but may go black since they lead into black sidepipes . any brand to avoid? thanks

Paint doesn't hold up. Strongly recommend something like JetHot coating. It lasts (guaranteed) and reduces underhood temperatures a lot.

Try POR-15.com, I have been using their products for the past 3 years with very good results.
Keep in mind that with any high temp paint to be used on headers you need to sandblast the headers first.
Por-15 can be applied with a brush and when it dries it looks like it has been sprayed on.

I used PORheader painton the Hooker Super Comps on my 75 Camaro. I sand blasted them and painted them in 1997. I sold the car last May and the paint was just starting to flake in places. I think that 8 - 9 years is pretty good for paint. Although I only put about 2,000 miles a year on the car. Too much power for a daily driver.
