Default por-15 or do you say por favor

hey, while i'm in the writing mood, i got all the carpet out and am having the seats done now. won't be ready for 2-3 weeks. had to have some welding done to the seat bottoms. the seat guy said the springs looked tired, may need new. anyways, i'm thinking this guymay get the carpet and doors just so i don't go thru the aggravation and frustrations of learning on the job and screwing it up.

anyways, the floorboards- the heater core must've leaked at some point from the staining i observed. my question- on the 78's are these floorboards fiberglass or sheetmetal? couldn'tput a screw driver through so not sure if its rust or what. anyways i'mcleaning it up and bought a quart of por-15 and will paint this stuff on. any of you ever heard of this stuff?

Hi. Yeap the floors are metal, cant recall from what year upi believe 73 or 74. por15 is a great product you just need to follow the instructions. i did my 79 last year. took the floors down to bare metal used the etching prep then the por15 came out great. hardest part was getting the floors to bare metal as it was painted and undercaoted very messy.

POR is good stuff but don't, I repeat, don't get it on you as you will wear it for a long time. I believe the floorboard went to metal in '75 along with the cat. I know it wasn't any earlier than that.

Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year.

And thanks to all the men & women serving our great country. [sm=patriot.gif]

It's good stuff if you use it right. Just like any paint. It wont stick to grease or dirt. On new metal you need to use a wax and grease remover and metal prep or it will peel right off. On rust you can just wire wheel the loose stuff off and it will bond to the metal. Pretty much just make it clean and dry. Don't have to go crazy. One think I will say is it's tough stuff but brake fld. still eats it up.
