Default Push button start question

has anyone installed a push button start system on the locking steering wheel column? I don’t care if the column lock is disabled. Would like to install a start button where key is now. Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

Not exactly sure what you're trying to do here. Do you want to simulate the current twist and release start method on the newer GM vehicles or do you want to replace the ignition lock with just a push button? The Twist and release system actually is just a signal to the computer to start the engine.

My ignition ( steering wheel) lock is no longer operable. Don’t really know why, but it’s been that way since I got the car. I like the tilt/telescopic features and have a disabling alarm so I never gave it much notice. So, I’m interested in setting a start button in the current ignition key position. What I’m missing is how to accomplish the two stages ( ignition on, and turn to engage starter), with a button. Additionally I would like this to operate like most new cars where a key fob, or I guess a transponder needs to be present

Found my answers, much easier than I thought. RFID remote start kit that marries with my alarm fob to activate. A little detail work making a collar and compression holder for the button, but worth the effort for a factory look finish. Will post pictures when complete. Just ordered parts, so it will be a couple of weeks away.
