are the ratios the same on a 76 and a 77???? i was thinking about putting my 77's differential on my 76 bc my 76 is making some loud knocking sounds when i turn...is this possible????

 

Without knowing what trans you have, I'm going to guess if its a close ratio 4 speed your diff. gear ratio is 3:36:1, if it is the auto it is a higher ratio meaning the numbers are lower. The knocking in your rear could be the clutches sticking and not releasing when you corner, you may want to suck out the fluid with a drill pump and refill with new lube and posi additive, if you do it your self cost around $15.00 it may be all you need. You probably have a posi rear if it knocks when you corner.
