Default rear gears and tranny questions

Well just recently i replaced u-joints on rear half shaft and put a 670 holley in place of the 800 weber that came with the car and some flowmaster mufflers and she runs soooo much better! Next in like is the issue with the high gears i think 2.82s are right for me year or something really close to that and the 3 speed. What i need is advice on where to go with the tranny and rear gears. I either want to go to a 4, 5, or 6 speed manual or an automatic. Basically i want a overdrive in the cheapest/easiest way that can hold around 400-500hp. I'm wanting the overdrive in the tranny so i can go with better rear gears like something around 3.73s. Now since im in the process of planning a wedding and with my hours being cut a little bit(stupid economy!) the transmission won't be done soon but i was wondering if i could get away with putting 3.73 gears with the 3 speed for now until i can do the tranny and still being able to go cruise at 60. Any of you out there have a 3 speed and 3.73 gears? If so what kind of rpms do you turn around the 60 mark? And any tips and where to find kits or what not for the pinion and ring gears to convert to 3.73? Thanks for the help guys and thanks for all the waves this summer!
