Default restoring a 70 have wheel and tire questions

Am getting the wheels on a 1970 chemically cleaned and powdercoated. What paint color/code was the original wheels? Where do I find this info?

I have run F60x15 BFG T/A Radials for years on the car. They have less than 3/4 inch clearance to the front fender well when turned all the way out but work fine.

I need new tires. Will 235/60x15 BFG T/A Radials fit on the front wheels or do I need to stay with 225/60x15.

The 235's are at least 1/2 inch taller in diameter and 1/2 inch wider tread and I am afraid they will hit the back of the wheel well. The 225's seem to be about the same size as the F60x15's so should work but I would like the slightly taller, wider tires if possible.....any experience out there with fit of the 235/60x15 tires?

Default RE: restoring a 70 have wheel and tire questions

I just finished the under-carriage of my 72 coupe. I installed BF Goodrich P22570R15. They have good clearance and do not rub any fender parts. My 72 has the 350 motor.

Thanks for the info.
I like the smaller diameter of the 60 series tires and would like to try to fit the 235/60x15 on my '70 Vette. I wonder if there is anyone who has tried this size and run into a problem with the 235/60x15 rubbing the frame or wheel well?
(I saw one posting where a 255/60x15 fit on a '71 that is even wider but also a little taller so maybe any of these sizes will fit.)

I have a friend with a 72 with a blown 454. He has 255/60 SR 15 BFG's on the front and they fit nicely. No rubbing. I am putting those tires on my stock 15 x 8 rallyes all the way around.
